Mid February, work in progress

Here’s a glimpse of what might become the next completed Patterns of Integration piece.  It’s a work in progress.  I would say that at this point I’ve spent 16 – 20 hours on it over the past week, in 3-4 hour sessions. Admittedly, much of that time is spent looking at what’s there and trying to decide what to do next.  That’s the process for me, starting with a blank design and gradually filling in colors and areas based on what seems interesting at the time.  Well, here.. let me show you where it’s at right now:

The only thing I can be sure of is that it will change a lot before it’s ‘finished’.  This one seems pretty cool to me in it’s current state, but that isn’t always the case.  Sometimes it’s hard to tell and colors seem to clash or emphasize odd elements until the very last bits are in place. That was true for the last piece I finished, shown in my previous post. I wasn’t sure if I liked it or not most of the time I was working on it, but toward the end I was feeling good about it and called it finished.  I changed my mind one time, and trying to add one last touch didn’t go as expected… I briefly questioned my own wisdom, but also it was late so I just let it go for the night. Now I love it.
